What is Open Lab?

Open Lab is an exciting project from BasildON Creative People & Places that will see vacant shops in Basildon town centre transformed in to pop-up pockets of activity for you to explore

It champions activity on the high street, handing over vacant retail units to creative practitioners, who will turn these forgotten spaces into interactive venues for you to experience!

Over the period of 5 weeks, 7 talented artists will be delivering a range of exciting, innovative, inspiring and most importantly FREE events and activities for you to enjoy! From photography and film through to theatre performance and projection mapping, expect to the unexpected in Basildon!

What is BasildON Creative People & Places?

BasildON Creative People and Places is a radical, new cultural programme for people living, working and socialising in Basildon borough.

The mission is simple; to unleash the creative spirit that runs through the veins of the community and provide more opportunities for local people to commission, create and participate in cultural activity in Basildon.
